Wedding Ceremony Types

Geoff can conduct all registered wedding ceremonies, including:

  • Weddings
  • Vow Renewals

There are many and varied types of Ceremonies which can be included within your Wedding Ceremony.

A Wedding Ceremony is very symbolic and these other types of Ceremonies can be  used to enhance the symbolism of the union of two people coming together in Marriage.

Geoff Franklin the Perth Wedding Celebrant has a diverse range of options to suit your individual requirements thereby personalising your Wedding Ceremony and making it truly unique.

Some of the different types of Ceremonies that can be included within the Traditional Wedding Ceremonies or Registry Style Ceremonies are :

  • Wine Ceremony

Props needed : At least one bottle of wine

                        One type of decanting vessel

                        Two goblets or glasses

Table ( The Signing Table is very useful for this purpose )

Often it is really nice to include Family members in your Ceremony.

After all , it is not just you as a couple that is being joined together but your families will also be connected by your union.

A Wine Ceremony connects families by perhaps both sets of Parents or other extended family representatives coming together to pour wine into a decanter or similar vessel.

The Bride and Groom would then pour from this vessel into their respective goblets or glasses and drink from them.

There are many and varied options to this depending on the symbolism you are trying to create.

For example , in a more traditional relationship , as a couple you may wish to drink from the same vessel thereby expressing that all things within your relationship are equal.

In a more contemporary world and a more contemporary relationship you may wish to pour wine into eachothers vessels thereby expressing that although you are bound by the coming together of both families and the one love you also retain your own identity.

  •  Sand Blending Ceremony

Props needed : One receptive vase or vessel ( Preferably clear glass )

                         At least two containers

At least two different coloured sands

Table ( The Signing Table is very useful for this purpose )

The Sand Blending Ceremony is not dissimilar to the Wine Ceremony , however it does have a greater flexibility in the number of family members it can cater to.

It is not uncommon  to bring together through Marriage , couples who have children.

This is a hugely popular Ceremony where there are Step – Children involved as each one can have their own coloured sand , take turns to pour and create a very real tapestry of intertwining relationships.

The symbolism here is that once poured into the vessel , the grains of sand can never be separated back into their respective containers and as such the new family unit will remain intact forever.

  •  Balloon Release :

           Props needed : Balloons

                                    Long Ribbons

Often used as an icebreaker for international guests where language can be a barrier, this is a great way to include people of all ages to be a part of your special day.

Given out at the start of your ceremony or during the signing component            ( generally by very willing participants ) the symbolism here is , upon the release of the balloons , to wish you both well and every happiness as your love for eachother travels the winds of time and change.

This can also be an excellent photo opportunity and when coordinated with your photographer can create a wonderful memory of your special day.

  •  Rose Presentation :

Props needed : 2 Red Roses

Towards the conclusion of your Ceremony , ( Generally after the Signing ) , what a wonderful idea to present the symbol of Love , a Red Rose , as your first gift to eachother as Husband and Wife.

This can also be a wonderful consolidation of the exchanging of rings and will personalise and add variety and interest to your Ceremony.

  •  Hand Fastening :

Props needed : Ribbon

                         Silk bag

This is an age old Wedding tradition from where we get the term

“ Tying the Knot ” and which was once all that was needed to consider a couple legally married.

Through the Celebrants direction the couples hands are bound together with the ribbon .Their hands are then slipped out from the knot which remains tied and the ribbon is then placed into the silk bag symbolising their love for eachother is forever bound.
